The hollow structural section column is welded to a 1.5-inch thick A572-50 steel base plate with a 5/16-inch fillet weld around the perimeter. The base plate features four 2.375-inch diameter holes for anchor rods, spaced at 9 inches on center in both directions. The assembly is anchored by four 1.5-inch diameter anchor rods embedded into the foundation. A 1.5-inch layer of non-shrink grout is provided beneath the base plate to ensure uniform bearing on the concrete surface.
